$100K Funding Opportunity for Early-Stage Technology Startups in Africa
Building a startup in Africa often means solving problems that are large, complex, and deeply connected to everyday life. From financial access and healthcare to agriculture, education, mobility, and climate challenges, the opportunities are significant—but building a scalable solution requires more than a good idea.
For founders at the Seed or Pre-Series A stage, access to the right capital and support can help turn early traction into sustainable growth.
A funding opportunity is currently available for African technology startups, offering up to $100,000 in funding, along with access to expertise, networks, and growth opportunities.
And there’s no fixed application deadline—the opportunity follows a rolling application process.
Who Is This For?
This opportunity is designed for technology startups operating across Africa and African markets.
To be eligible, startups should generally be:
At the Seed or Pre-Series A stage
Operating across Africa or African markets
Building a scalable business
Using technology to solve meaningful challenges
Working in a technology-driven sector
This means the opportunity is not limited to one specific type of startup. What matters is the problem being addressed, the role of technology in the solution, and the potential to build a scalable business.
Which Startups Can Apply?
The funding is open to startups working across a wide range of sectors.
FinTech
Startups developing technology-driven solutions for financial services, payments, access to finance, and related areas.
HealthTech
Businesses using technology to address challenges in healthcare and improve how services or solutions reach people.
AgriTech
Startups working on technology-based solutions for agriculture and challenges across the agricultural ecosystem.
EdTech
Technology businesses focused on education, learning, and related opportunities.
ClimateTech
Startups developing solutions to challenges related to climate, sustainability, and the environment.
Mobility
Technology-driven businesses working on transportation, movement, and mobility-related challenges.
Commerce
Startups using technology to improve how businesses and consumers buy, sell, and interact.
SaaS
Software-based businesses building scalable solutions for customers and organizations.
Logistics
Technology startups working to improve logistics, supply chains, transportation, and related systems.
Startups operating in other technology-driven sectors may also be relevant if they are building scalable solutions to significant challenges across African markets.
What Does the $100K Come With?
The funding is an important part of the opportunity, but it isn't the only thing founders should look at.
The program follows a high-touch approach, meaning selected founders can receive support through capital, expertise, networks, and growth opportunities.
For an early-stage startup, this kind of support can be valuable.
At the Seed and Pre-Series A stages, founders are often working through several priorities at once—developing their product, growing the business, reaching more customers, and preparing for the next stage of expansion.
Having access to both funding and a broader support network can give founders additional resources as they work through these challenges.
What Should You Have Ready Before Applying?
Before submitting an application, founders should be able to explain their business clearly and simply.
Start with the problem.
What challenge are you solving, and why does it matter?
Then explain the solution.
How does your technology address that problem, and who benefits from it?
You should also be prepared to communicate your startup's:
Current stage
Business model
Scalability
Market
Progress or traction
Growth plans
Team's ability to execute
Most importantly, make it clear why your startup has the potential to grow within African markets.
A strong application doesn't need unnecessary complexity. It needs a clear story about the problem, the solution, the market, and where the business is headed.
Why Should Founders Pay Attention?
Early-stage funding can give founders the breathing room to focus on building rather than constantly worrying about the next source of capital.
But the bigger opportunity may lie in what comes alongside the funding.
For startups still building their foundations, expertise and networks can be just as valuable as capital. The right connections can open doors, while experienced guidance can help founders navigate decisions that come with scaling a young business.
For founders building technology solutions for African markets, having access to these resources can support the journey from an early-stage company toward a more scalable business.
Is Your Startup Ready?
If you're building a technology startup in Africa, are currently at the Seed or Pre-Series A stage, and are tackling a meaningful challenge with a scalable solution, this opportunity could be worth exploring.
The funding available is $100,000, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
So, if your startup fits the eligibility criteria, don't wait for a perfect moment. Review the requirements, prepare your business information, and see whether this opportunity aligns with where you want to take your company next.
