Building a startup is exciting, but for most founders, one challenge appears very early in the journey—funding. Having a great idea is only the beginning. Turning that idea into a working product, testing it in the market, and preparing it for growth requires resources, mentorship, and financial support.
To help promising startups cross this critical stage, C-CAMP is offering support through the NIDHI Seed Support Scheme (NIDHI-SSS), an initiative backed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The program is designed to provide early-stage funding and incubation support to innovative startups that are building technology-driven solutions.
If you're a first-time founder looking for funding to develop your product and move closer to commercialization, this opportunity could be worth exploring.
What is the NIDHI Seed Support Scheme?
The NIDHI Seed Support Scheme (NIDHI-SSS) is a government-supported initiative that helps startups during the crucial early stages of their journey. The scheme aims to bridge the gap between idea validation and larger investments from angel investors, venture capital firms, or financial institutions.
Many startups struggle to attract investors because they are still developing their product or have not yet demonstrated market traction. NIDHI-SSS addresses this challenge by providing seed support that founders can use to:
Develop and improve prototypes
Validate products and technologies
Conduct market research
Test business models
Prepare for commercialization
Strengthen investor readiness
The program is implemented through selected incubators across India, and in this case, startups receive support through C-CAMP, one of India's leading innovation and entrepreneurship platforms.
Why This Opportunity Matters
For many founders, especially those building technology-based products, the journey from concept to market can be expensive and time-consuming. Product development often requires testing, research, infrastructure, talent, and customer validation before revenue starts coming in.
The NIDHI-SSS program helps reduce this pressure by providing financial assistance at a stage where traditional funding can be difficult to secure.
Unlike many startup grants that focus only on specific milestones, this support is intended to help startups create a stronger foundation before approaching larger investors. It allows founders to focus on building and validating their solutions instead of worrying about immediate fundraising challenges.
Funding Support
Selected startups can receive up to ₹1 Crore in seed support.
This funding can be a significant boost for startups looking to move beyond the idea stage and accelerate product development. Whether you're refining a prototype, conducting pilot projects, or preparing for market entry, the funding can help you achieve important milestones that make your startup more investment-ready.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to innovative startups that meet specific eligibility requirements.
To qualify, applicants must:
Be a registered company in India
Qualify as an Indian startup
Not be a subsidiary of a foreign company
Have at least 51% shareholding held by Indian promoters
Become a resident incubatee of C-CAMP
Complete a minimum of three months of incubation at C-CAMP before receiving seed funding
The startup should also be innovation-led, knowledge-based, or technology-driven.
Sectors Covered
One of the biggest advantages of this opportunity is that it supports startups across multiple technology-focused sectors.
Eligible domains include:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Software as a Service (SaaS)
Healthcare
Biotechnology
Life Sciences
MedTech
Agritech
DeepTech
Diagnostics
Other technology-driven ventures
This broad sector coverage makes the program accessible to founders working on a wide range of innovative solutions.
Why C-CAMP?
C-CAMP has built a strong reputation for supporting startups through incubation, mentorship, industry connections, and commercialization guidance.
Beyond funding, startups accepted into the ecosystem gain access to valuable networks, expert mentors, and resources that can help accelerate growth. For early-stage founders, these non-financial benefits can often be just as important as funding itself.
Being part of an incubation ecosystem also helps startups refine their business models, improve product-market fit, and prepare for future fundraising opportunities.
Final Thoughts
The path from idea to successful startup is rarely straightforward. Early-stage founders often face challenges in product development, validation, and fundraising long before they can attract institutional investment.
The NIDHI Seed Support Scheme (NIDHI-SSS) by C-CAMP offers a valuable opportunity to overcome these barriers. With funding support of up to ₹1 Crore, incubation resources, and access to a strong innovation ecosystem, the program can help startups transform promising ideas into market-ready solutions.
If you're building a technology-driven startup and are looking for support to take your next big step, this could be the opportunity that helps turn your vision into reality.
